‘Walk 17′ Wins 2nd Place at Open City

Our short cinematic documentary ‘Walk 17′ has walked away (no pun intended) with 2nd place for the best MyStreet film at the 2011 Open City London Documentary Festival. The award was judged by an esteemed jury including Cristi Puiu, Pawel Pawlikowski and ‘Man On Wire’ producer Simon Chinn.

After the closing gala we all headed to the Grafton Arms for a drink. There we had a good chat with Cristi Puiu, who’s philosophies on cinema were mind blowing, though we’d expect nothing less from such a great director.

BAFTA Screening

The team hanging out at BAFTA HQ
You may well know now that we produced a short cinematic documentary called ‘Luvin the Black Country’ which was funded by the UK Film Council and Screen WM. Having finished production last year, we’ve been hot on the tail of festivals. However, in February we received a call from Simon Flynn at Screen WM informing us that our little old film has been selected to be shown at a private and intimate BAFTA screening in London.

This was a great moment for us, so suffice to say we donned our expensive jackets and drove into central London. A little lost, we struggled to wade our way through the scores of people traffic that populate the capital. The BAFTA HQ was as plush as they come, with free drinks all around, tough luck I drove down ay?

Anyway, the film was received very well, and also landed one critic to write us a 9.7/10 review on IMDb. Click here to check it out.

Recent Happenings

Ok, since we’ve been out of bloggin’ action for a while I think it’s best I fill you in on a few of the recent projects and events we’ve had on over the next few posts.

Since we last left you, we’ve been working on our massive yearly video project for Interserve Plc. The project basically entails the video documentation of a years worth of work in construction, but as usual, we like to make it a little more special than that. We created a giant timeline using 3D graphics that played with the voice over of none other than Phil Sayer. You may think you don’t know him, but if you’ve ever caught a train, he will have been the guy to tell you that it has arrived. Not sure what I’m talking about? click here. Needless to say, the project went down a storm at the Interserve management conference in March!

New Beginnings: Our New Site

hillside view taken by Manjeet S Gill
Hello all,

It’s been a while since my last update through the Bsalute blog. We’ve been busy working on the new site, but the influx of large projects recently has meant it’s been a very slow process. However persistance paid off, as it is now up online with this brand new integrated blog page as well. Sorry if you’ve been following the old one, hope you can find this place just as helpful.

If you look around the site you’ll see many changes, most notably the absence of the video on every page. This was really slowing down loading times for our users so it had to go. Not just that, but the designs really had a kick start and our portfolio pages are far more user friendly than before. Thanks to Yokto Video Platform, we’re using a brand new all-in-one player that pulls in videos from anywhere on the web. It’s still in its early phases but it’s going to go down a storm.

So before you head off and wonder around the vast desert of internet space, do be sure to check out the rest of this site and drop us a line with your thoughts of the updates.

Happy surfing,
